LCR has secured a 6,000 sq. ft letting to global engineering firm Belcan LLC, at its redeveloped RTC Business Park in Derby, bolstering the scheme’s position as a centre of high-tech, rail and aerospace engineering businesses.
Belcan, which works in the aerospace, defence, automotive, industrial and government services markets, has relocated its UK headquarters to the scheme at the heart of the city’s internationally-acclaimed engineering business cluster. It joins tenants including Hitachi Europe, Network Rail, Serco and Siemens.
Based at the site’s Kelvin Office Tower, Belcan’s new refurbished office offers an open-plan space for additional new members of staff, including dedicated breakout areas and meeting rooms. This complements existing space held by the company in the same building, with the extended office enabling Belcan to double its headcount.
Formerly British Rail’s research centre, in 2013 LCR invested £6.5 million, with support from the Regional Growth Fund, in a full refurbishment and redevelopment programme at RTC. The investment has transforming over 430,000 sq. ft of office accommodation across 28 acres of landscaped grounds. It is now one of the principal engineering employment sites in the region, home to a work force of over 1,300.
