One of Belcan Corporation’s core beliefs is “Giving Back to Our Communities.” In that spirit and on Belcan’s behalf, four employees of Belcan’s East Hartford, CT office recently had the privilege of presenting donations to three local charities:

The Salvation Army of Southern New England. Belcan employees have once again chosen The Salvation Army because of its long history of helping in a time of crisis. Major David Champlin, Divisional Commander for The Salvation Army’s Southern New England Division, said, “It’s because of companies like Belcan and their employees that we are able to fulfill our mission of helping others. We appreciate their generosity.”

Foodshare in Bloomfield, covering charitable groups and food banks in Hartford and Tolland counties. Vice President Alicia Flynn gave Belcan representatives a tour of their facility and answered their questions. Belcan employees were awed by the complexity of the operation and the far-reaching impacts of their programs.

Operation Fuel, covering central Connecticut. For 35 years, Operation Fuel has been responding to families & individuals in crisis. Low-income families are facing the largest affordability gap ever; these households have annual energy costs that are approximately $2,200 more than they can afford.

Herb Lillibridge, Phil Cognata, Jeff Dugan and Anne Fitzpatrick visited these organizations and came away with a better insight into how many families in their communities are suffering and a renewed appreciation for how hard charitable organizations are working to meet their needs.
