Nacelles

With more than 30 years of experience in aerostructures design, Belcan continues to support the nacelle industry with a wide variety of capabilities. Our senior staff has expertise in writing design specifications, developing compliance plans and designing the multitude of components and systems comprising the nacelle structure. With over 700 engineering and design resources, Belcan can assemble a team to support all aspects of Nacelle design.

Installation and Integration

The integration of the Nacelle to the Aircraft Installation and the Propulsion System is a major undertaking that our team has supported on many different builds, from large commercial airlines, small regional jets, aircraft re-engining, and military installations. We have also supported flight test aircraft modifications to demonstrate development engine capabilities.

Certification Support

FAR 33 and FAR/JAR 25 certification requirements are quite familiar to our staff. We have worked through the details of these specifications on many different applications. Our experience over the years allows us to quickly and efficiently compile a certification plan along with a matrix identifying the test plans, analysis, and reports. We can support the writing of these documents, and/or the review of, if performed by other nacelle suppliers.

Component Design and Validation

Although Belcan has not designed a complete Nacelle, we have engineers available who have experience designing all of the major components of a Nacelle including Inlet, Fan Cowl, Fan Reverser, Aft Core Cowl, and Exhaust Nozzle. These light-weight structure designs include the use of a variety of materials including Aluminum, Titanium, Inconel, and various metallic and non-metallic composites. Our engineers have also worked with airframers and manufacturers in joint effort groups to define interfaces and operation envelopes, as well as have experience in the creation and maintenance of the subsequent interface documents. Our experienced engineers can provide knowledgeable support for Nacelle Design from original concept through the design, development, and testing phases to certification plans, test coverage, and report writing.
